Pipeline Problems

Why is my sales pipeline empty?

✍️ Warren Mc Nicol 📅 April 1, 2026 ⏱ 2 min read

Your pipeline didn't empty overnight.

It emptied 90 days ago — you just didn't notice.

Here's a truth most sales leaders learn the hard way:

An empty pipeline is never a TODAY problem.

It's the result of what you stopped doing 60 to 90 days ago.

The team was busy.

Deals were closing.

Demos were running.

Everyone was heads-down.

And nobody was filling the top of the funnel.

This is what I call the Pipeline Lag — the silent killer of B2B sales targets.

You feel it only when it's too late to fix it quickly.

𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁?

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘅 𝗶𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁.

𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗮 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁.

Even on your best closing days — prospect.

Even when the pipeline looks healthy — prospect.

Even when you're in back-to-back meetings — prospect.

The teams that win consistently aren't the ones who close best.

They're the ones who never stop filling the top.

Here's a simple rule I give every client at 4D:

👉 Block 60 minutes every morning for outreach. Non-negotiable. Before meetings. Before email. Before everything.

That one habit is worth more than any sales training programme.

Is your pipeline healthy right now — or are you living on borrowed time?

Drop a comment below. I read every one.
